We've loved.
We've lost.
We've hated.
Our Empire is crumbling right before my eyes. No one can be trusted for reasons that are consuming me, controlling me and ripping me away from my family.
This new family who has taken over the streets of New York has taken someone away from us. We will not let them take anymore. The only way to stop them is to sacrifice one of us.
But who? They want to end me and my cousin, Calla.
I will never allow that to happen.
This is our EMPIRE. Our LIFE.
What it boils down to is... her life or mine.
The answer is MINE!
I'm perceived as weak, all because I'm a woman.
A woman on a mission now that they've stolen someone I love.
They have threatened my family, my child, my love.
I may be a woman but, I'm the daughter of a notorious killer.
They want to end me and my cousin, Roan.
I will never allow that to happen.
This is our EMPIRE. Our LIFE.
What it boils down to is... his life or mine.
The answer is MINE!
I'm loved.
I'm lost.
I hate.
Just in case you missed them, here're Kim's reviews of #1 - #4:

Kathy Coopmans' "The Wrath of Cain" is the first tale in the Syndicate series. Calla and Cain decide to get married behind their parent's backs in Detroit at the age of only 18. They have been secretly dating for the last 2 years. They go home to tell them and Cain leaves Calla with her unhappy about the new parents for her to pack up some things and meet him at his dad's MC compound. What she finds when she shows up breaks her heart and she runs. 6 years later she comes back for a divorce, only to find out all hell has broken loose and she can't leave until it's sorted. This story is filled with so many twists and turns sometimes you don't know which way is up. It's one of my fav MC/Mafia stories EVER! This book is a MUST READ!!!!

5 out of 5 stars

Kathy Coopmans' "The Redemption of Roan" is the second tale in the Syndicate series. Roan Diamond has a thing for his brother's ex Alina Solokov. At first he wanted to use her to get his brother Royal to come out of hiding, but then he fell for her. He wants nothing more than to date her, even though she comes from a rival family and she has nothing to do with them. She's a pediatrician and he's being groomed to take over the mob from his father. Can he get her to see him as a man and not the mob? Will Royal come out of hiding? What happens when secrets come out and all hell breaks loose? Can they come out the other side together, or will the fall apart? Find out in book 3 of this awesome series!!!

Kathy Coopmans' "The Absolution of Aidan" is the third tale in the Syndicate series. Deidre checks herself out of the hospital AMA and leaves the city after her ordeal with Royal Diamond involving him hurting her and Aidan Hughes. Aidan stays in NYC and starts to work for the Diamond family, never forgetting about Deidre or how much he wants her. She's been gone a year and when she comes back it's a shocker. Can they work things out? Where was she for the last year? What secret did she keep from Aidan? Can they be together? What happens when Aidan finds out the secret? Will he be happy, or will he leave her and never come back? This book is my fav out of all 3 books in the series!!!! This book is a MUST READ!!!!!

Meredith definitely drank too much last night. Why on earth else would she have woken up without her purse, and the distinct memory of giving her number to a stripper? So gross.
The good news is, she never has to see him again. Except to get her purse. And to discover she did another terrible, horrible, very bad thing while drunk- she accidentally became a professional penis photographer.
Rob wishes more people would believe him when he says he truly is stripping his way through journalism school. It's the only way Millennials can afford school with no student loans. When Meredith quite literally stumbles across his path, he's super smitten. Sadly, she is less so once she sobers up.
Can he trick her into dating him? Can she trick her mother into thinking she has a respectable job?
And can anyone recover once the internet picks up their story? It's a long shot for both of them.

Check out the entire series!

Kim's Review for "Topped":

Kayti McGee's "Topped" is a great read. This book made me laugh like crazy in places. Miranda is a romance writer, but she's frustrated that she can't break into the top 100 on Amazon. Her nemesis writes weird books and is constantly there. She just doesn't get it. What's so special about Charlie Shivers? She is excited about going to a writers conference in her city this week. It will save her so much money on not having to pay for travel and a room when she lives close by. Everything changes the first night she's there. She's in the bar drinking when she's approached by a man she thinks is a cover model named Joe. Joe and Miranda hit it off and head up to his room for some fun. Little do they know they are on a panel the next day together and neither of them are who they introduced themselves as. Miranda is actually Randi Rose and Joe is actually Charlie Shivers. From there all hell breaks loose. This book is well worth the read and had me laughing my butt off in places. This is a MUST READ!!!

Reviews for A Witch's Night Out Series #1-#4 by Tara Quan

Apprentice witch Catalina Gato is prohibited from assuming her human form in front of her new employer without his express permission. Since he doesn’t know he’s a warlock, he can’t give it, leaving her in a familiar’s limbo. To make matters worse, she’s barred from leaving his house, and her attempts to enlighten him of his true nature results in burnt notes, charred walls, and exploding laptops.
On All Hallows’ Eve, she gets one night of freedom. Deciding some no-strings-attached sex might take the edge off the intense attraction she feels for her clueless boss, she signs up for Madame Eve’s service. When she meets her masked mystery date at the Castillo Capital, she realizes she might have gotten much more than she bargained for.
After being gifted a one-night stand from his annoying best friend, attorney Leo Difuoco reluctantly ventures to the Castillo Capital to celebrate Halloween. When he meets his oddly familiar green-eyed date in a Cat Woman costume, flames literally ignite, sparks magically fly, and life as he knows it changes forever.

My Review

Tara Quan's "Flirting with Fire" is the first tale in the A Witch's Night Out series. I like the mythology of the different types of magic and characters. I just love the idea that she's trapped in a cat body whenever he's around. Leo is a hawtie. I read these books out of order and it's that nice kind of related series where you can get away with that. Happy endings without going too crazy far and fast for a novella.

Attorney Jack Frost never understood why holidays did weird things to people. His secretary went on vacation, his best friend ditched their annual Aspen trip, and the law firm’s stubborn human resources assistant refuses his clerical support request. What’s a warlock to do on Christmas Eve but go on a 1-Night Stand? But when an oddly familiar empath shows up as his date, this ice mage has a hard time denying the magic of the winter solstice.
Faced with an anemic employment market and financial woes, college graduate and former witch Mina Mao lands an HR assistant job at Frost and Sons. Having spent her day saving Christmas from Frost Junior’s Grinch-like behavior, she accepts the gift of Madame Eve’s service and heads over to the Castillo Capital. When her date turns out to be her childhood crush and workplace nemesis, she braces herself for the sexiest icy ride of her life.
Genre: Paranormal Romantic Comedy, Interracial/Multicultural

My Review

Tara Quan's "Frosty Relations" is the second tale in the A Witch's Night Out series, but you can read it as a standalone, I did. I love the magic that's sprinkled into the storyline, as well as the "normal" bits of storyline, like the snow globe collection. The characters are really interesting and well-developed for a novella. There are some hot scenes...magic + hawt nook nook = winning! I will definitely see what else this author has out there. I definitely want to read the other tales in this series.

4.5 out of 5 stars

Recent college graduate and part-time cat familiar Dulcina “Sweets” Gato is having the worst New Year’s Eve in living memory. End of year expenses trigger serious cash flow problems, and her microwave just went up in smoke. To make matters worse, her best friend’s overprotective big brother is back in town, and his return threatens to put a huge crimper on her nocturnal activities. The only thing she can look forward to is Madame Eve’s 1-Night Stand service. After all, she’s sick and tired of being a 21-year-old virgin.
Enforcement Agent Mikal Knight is a warlock on a mission. Having finally scored a transfer to Washington, D.C., he’s now at liberty to pursue the object of his desires—his baby sister’s best friend. But first, he has a vigilante to track down and a mysterious matchmaking service to investigate. Sent on an undercover operation, he resigns himself to a pointless 1-Night Stand on New Year’s Eve. As luck would have it, his mystery date’s identity might let him kill several birds with one stone.

My Review

Tara Quan's "Fireworks at Midnight" is the third tale in the A Witch's Night Out series, but you can read it as a standalone. I love how the books have holiday events in them. I love the imagery on New Year's Eve. Great level of detail for a novella. The nookie is super sexy. I could almost feel it! <3 A sexy bit of candy for sure.

Under magical house arrest in her great-grandmother’s suburban cottage, college graduate and reluctant earth mage Shelley Dupree whiles away most mornings spying on the warlock next door. Though erotic daydreams offer some distraction, she faces long working hours, cash flow problems, and a repeat burglar. On Valentine’s Day, she sets a trap for the mysterious intruder, intent on ending his crime streak once and for all. But her scheming cat familiar foils her best-laid plans, and, with a little help from Madame Eve’s 1-Night Stand service, she discovers a far more dangerous species of magical feline.
After moving in next to a ramshackle building on the outskirts of Washington, D.C., pastry chef Adrien Chatdurois is plagued by repeat sexual fantasies starring the same curvy brunette. In a state of constant arousal, he devotes his early mornings to grueling exercise and spends the rest of his day handcrafting the city’s best chocolates. When his younger brother stirs up trouble on the shop’s busiest day, the frustrated shifter is forced to pay a surprise visit on his reclusive neighbor. He soon learns not all witches are wart-covered hags, and one in particular might prove the most delicious of desserts.

My Review

Tara Quan's "Feline Valentine" is the fourth tale in the A Witch's Night Out series, but you can read it as a standalone. This series just keeps getting better and better. A sexy shifter who is a pastry chef? Definitely you need to read the last half one-handed! I can't wait to see what else Tara Quan has out there. This series is amazing.
