Audrey Carlan's "Resisting Roots" is the first tale in the Lotus House series. Trent is a professional baseball player who made the play of his life and got hurt in the process. His hamstring snapped and he had to have surgery to fix it. His doctors have put him into physical therapy and stuff but he's not taking it seriously. His manager has come to his house to confront him and give him the kick in the ass he needs. His manager tells him to do yoga to help with flexibility, strengthening and stretching. The doctors agree and send him to Lotus House Yoga Center. It cones highly recommended. Genevieve teaches at Lotus House along with her other job dressing hair at her house for extra money to support her, her brother and sister. She became their guardian when their parents died a few years earlier. She does everything she can to keep them in their parents house, but is having problems paying for it all. Trent is distracted by the attractive instructor, as she is with him. They talk about doing private lessons and Viv is all for making the extra money and Trent is all for the one on one time with her. He asks her out and she turns him down because of everything going on in her life, but he won't give up. Can he wear her down? Can they do the friend with benefits thing? What happens when Trent finds out what's really going on with Viv? Will he accept her ready made family, or will he run? Can Viv get him back in playing shape before Spring Training?
